Hi guys, nice to meet you! I’m Hannah, a computational postdoc working at Imperial College London where I research how genetic variants cause metabolic and rare diseases. Despite the lab coat in the DNA& logo, I work entirely on the computer and haven’t conducted a lab experiment in >7 years!
As an extrovert and DNA enthusiast, I’m often found communicating genetics to anyone who will listen :-). Alongside the DNA& podcast, I have organised activities at festivals including the Great Exhibition Road Festival and Imperial Lates, volunteered with the Genetics Society and Royal Institution, and act as a Media Ambassador for the Society for Endocrinology. You can catch my “expert quotes” in outlets such as the Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Insider and Evening Standard. I can also be found sharing short educational videos on TikTok (@dr.hammaude).
I’m also Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and regularly participate in lecturing, supervising and teaching BSc, MSc and PhD students at Imperial College London. I love teaching to hope to continue sharing my enthusiasm for genetics across platforms!
If our podcast has helped spark your interest in genetics, medicine, or broader science, then we are very humbled.
To ask us more about DNA or further study, please reach out via our contact form or Twitter. You can learn more about the research from our Institution at the Imperial College London website.
We would like to extend our special thanks to The Genetics Society and The Society for Endocrinology whose funding has helped to make this podcast possible.
