Dr Hannah Maude

Hi guys, nice to meet you! I’m Hannah, a computational postdoc working at Imperial College London where I research how genetic variants cause metabolic and rare diseases. Despite the lab coat in the DNA& logo, I work entirely on the computer and haven’t conducted a lab experiment in >7 years!

As an extrovert and DNA enthusiast, I’m often found communicating genetics to anyone who will listen :-). Alongside the DNA& podcast, I have organised activities at festivals including the Great Exhibition Road Festival and Imperial Lates, volunteered with the Genetics Society and Royal Institution, and act as a Media Ambassador for the Society for Endocrinology. You can catch my “expert quotes” in outlets such as the GuardianTimesTelegraphInsider and Evening StandardI can also be found sharing short educational videos on TikTok (@dr.hammaude).

I’m also Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and regularly participate in lecturing, supervising and teaching BSc, MSc and PhD students at Imperial College London. I love teaching to hope to continue sharing my enthusiasm for genetics across platforms!
